Structures
Building the right foundations for your future.
The right structure gives you flexibility, protects what you’re building and creates opportunities for the future. We’ll help you understand your options and put the right foundations in place from the beginning.
WHO WE HELP
Getting the structure right changes everything that comes after.
Whether you’re starting a business, buying property, planning for the future or reviewing an existing structure, the decisions you make today can have a lasting impact.
The right structure isn’t just about reducing tax. It’s about protecting your assets, creating flexibility and making sure your finances can grow with you. We’ll explain your options clearly, help you understand the trade-offs and put the right structure in place from the beginning.
Our clients all have different goals, but they want the same outcome: confidence that the foundations they’re building today will continue to support them well into the future.
HOW WE SUPPORT YOU
How We Help You Build the Right Structure
01
Family Trusts
Protecting assets while creating flexibility for the future.
Supporting copy: Family trusts are one of the most flexible structures available, but they’re not the right solution for everyone. We’ll help you understand when a trust makes sense, establish it correctly and explain how it works in plain English.
The best structure is the one that suits your goals, not someone else’s.
02
Companies
Building a business on the right foundation.
Supporting copy: Whether you’re starting a new business or reviewing an existing one, we’ll help you determine if a company is the right fit. From ASIC registration to shareholder structures, we’ll make sure everything is set up correctly from the beginning.
Getting it right early is far easier than fixing it later.
03
Unit Trusts
When ownership needs to be clearly defined.
Supporting copy: Unit trusts work well where ownership proportions need to be fixed, such as joint ventures, property developments and investment partnerships. We’ll help you understand whether they’re appropriate and establish them correctly.
Clear ownership creates confidence for everyone involved.
04
Self-Managed Super Funds
When your retirement strategy becomes part of your overall structure.
Supporting copy: Sometimes an SMSF is the missing piece of a broader wealth strategy. We’ll help you understand whether it’s the right fit and, if so, establish it correctly while supporting you long after it’s created.
Every SMSF begins with a conversation, not paperwork.
05
Asset Protection
Protecting what you’ve worked hard to build.
Supporting copy: Good structures aren’t just about tax. They’re designed to protect your assets if life doesn’t go according to plan. Asset protection is something we consider in every structure recommendation, not an afterthought.
Protection is easiest to build before you need it.
06
Structure Reviews
Because the right structure today may not be the right one tomorrow.
Supporting copy: Businesses grow, families change and investment portfolios evolve. We’ll review your current structure, explain what’s working, identify any risks and recommend practical improvements where needed.
Good structures evolve as your life and business evolve.
Discretionary (Family) Trusts
One of the most flexible structures available—but not the right answer for everyone.
A discretionary trust gives the trustee flexibility to distribute income to beneficiaries in a way that minimises tax each year. It also provides a level of asset protection that personal names don’t. We set up the trust deed, appoint the trustee, register the ABN and TFN, and walk you through how it works and what your obligations are as trustee.
Unit Trusts
When flexibility needs to meet fixed ownership.
Unit trusts suit arrangements where ownership proportions need to be defined—joint ventures, business partnerships and property held between parties. We set these up properly and make sure the structure matches what you’re actually trying to achieve.
Companies
Simple to set up. Important to get right.
A company is a separate legal entity—it has its own tax rate, obligations and protections. We set up proprietary limited companies for trading, as trustees and as holding entities. We register with ASIC, establish the share structure and make sure the company fits properly into your broader arrangements.
Self-Managed Super Funds
We set these up too—and we’re accredited to advise on them properly.
If an SMSF makes sense as part of your overall structure, we handle the establishment end to end. For the full picture on what we do with SMSFs, head to our dedicated SMSF page.
Asset Protection
The structure you’re in determines what happens if life doesn’t go to plan.
No one likes thinking about what could go wrong. But a good structure isn’t just about tax—it can also protect what you’ve worked hard to build.
Whether you’re in business, investing, exposed to personal liability or simply planning ahead, we consider asset protection as part of every structure discussion—not as something to think about later.
Structure Reviews
Already have a structure? It might be time to look at it again.
Structures set up years ago don’t always reflect where things are now. A business that’s grown, a property portfolio that’s expanded, or a family situation that’s changed can all mean the original structure is no longer doing what it should. We’ll review what you have, explain what’s working and what isn’t, and give you practical options.
Tax Planning
-
Tax planning isn’t for after June.
Most tax returns explain what happened. We’d rather help influence what happens next.
Every year between April and June, we sit down with our business clients for a dedicated tax planning meeting. That’s deliberate. It gives you time to make decisions before 30 June—not after it.
